I had two spinster grandaunts Who befriended the Beard family on the Oregon coast at Gearhart around 1917. James would’ve been around 14 years old when the two families would go on picnics down at “Little Beach“. My grand aunt Tess told me years ago that they would have to hide the deserts high up in a pine tree to keep James from getting at it before it was time! 😂
